Sacramento Trip - May 18-21, 2009

For our 4th Grade Historical Trip we visit Sacramento, Coloma and San Francisco over four days.

While in Sacramento we fill our days with a trip to several museums, Sutter's Fort, Old Town Sacramento as well as our state capitol, where we take a class photo.

In Gold Country we bring the Gold Rush alive by panning for gold in the American River where the original 49ers looked for riches. For lunch we have a hamburger cookout at Sutter's Fort. We also explore an old mine that was once used for mining.

We break our drive from Sacramento to San Francisco up with a fun visit to the Jelly Belly factory and have lunch on the road.

In San Francisco we stay at Fisherman's Wharf. We take ferry to Alcatraz and get a view of San Francisco from "The Rock". We take a scenic tour of the city and pose for pictures with the Golden Gate Bridge behind us. After dinner on our third night, we head for an exciting cable car ride down the streets of 'Frisco.

During the entire trip students will be responding to what they see through journal entries. They also will have a "Photo Requirement Book" which will list the pictures they will need to take while on the trip. When we return to school they will be making a Sacramento Notebook documenting all they saw and experienced.
